WikiExplorers: The Pink Legacy of the Rift Valley
Setting: The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, Harlem, New York City
Characters:
Aisha (10): Enthusiastic, loves drawing.
Jamal (9): Curious, always asking "why."
Chloe (11): Detail-oriented, good at note-taking.
JobEbenezer: Schomburg Center librarian, kind and knowledgeable.
Nia Imani (AfroCROWD Wikipedian): Energetic, wildlife biologist.
Kwame Gabriel (AfroCROWD Wikipedian): Calm, experienced photographer and editor.
The grand, quiet halls of the Schomburg Center were usually where history whispered from books. But today, a different kind of adventure was about to unfold for Aisha, Jamal, and Chloe. Their school assignment: research flamingos. Their meeting point: a special presentation arranged by Ebenezer, their favorite librarian.
"Alright, WikiExplorers," Mr. Ebenezer announced with a smile, gesturing to two figures setting up a projector. "Today, we have Nia Imani and Kwame Gabriel AfroCROWD. They've just returned from an incredible journey to Kenya, and they're going to share something truly spectacular."
Aisha, Jamal, and Chloe exchanged excited glances. They knew AfroCROWD helped put important stories and images on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, especially about African history and culture.
Dr. Nia Imani, a woman with sparkling eyes and a safari vest, stepped forward. "Jambo, everyone! My colleague Kwame and I have just spent weeks in Kenya's Great Rift Valley, documenting wildlife, and guess what was at the top of our list?"
"Flamingos!" Jamal practically shouted, bouncing in his seat.
"Exactly!" Kwame, with his camera bag slung over his shoulder, chuckled. "And we didn't just see them; we saw millions of them! We've created a special WikiCommons photo gallery to show you."
The lights dimmed, and the projector whirred to life, splashing a breathtaking image across the screen: a vast lake, shimmering under a golden sun, completely covered in a blanket of vibrant pink.
